Berkeley City Club is an elegant and beautiful Julia Morgan designed building created at the same time she designed the Hearst Castle, and so became known as the “Little Castle” as the Berkeley City club has many similar features.

Richard Powers is a dance historian and instructor on the Stanford University dance faculty. Richard’s focus since 1975 has been the research and reconstruction of nineteenth and early twentieth century American and European social dance forms. Richard has also has choreographed for dozens of stage productions and films, and has taught workshops across the U.S. and abroad. Bangers and Mash is one of the bay area's most popular historic dance band with a wide selection of danceable waltz, polka, schottische, contra, and English country tunes. Always popular, always danceable, Bangers regularly plays English country, contra, PEERS, and Fezziwigs Warehouse/Dickens Xmas Faire dances.

Our 13th year!
We will have a mix of waltzes, polkas, Congress of Vienna, mixers,
a couple of set dances, some latin and swing. A New Year's Eve countdown, singalong.

No partner necessary for the Ball. A tradition at our New Year's Eve Waltz ball is that many people arrive as singles and dance with others

Formal, elegant, evening wear is very much appreciated at the Ball, but not necessary.
